The Trick of Flying

I used perch in the corner
and watch others
take the flight
while I watched
My heart raced
and longed for that slap of the wind
on my wings
But I was scared
and my wings shivered
to take
the leap of faith
I thought I would never fly
may be my wings were broken
But there was a day
just like any other one
I still shivered
but I jumped down the perch
some called it suicide
I fell thumping down
I thought I ended it all
but somehow the fall didn't end
for I was flying
My wings fluttered
they were not broken
they hit the wind hard
and still stayed strong
I flew high and low
I flew fast and slow
I was not the first one to fly
I was not the last one who will fly
Just another insignificant one
among the millions of others
but for once
I was alive
I wonder
if this is momentary
or I can fly forever
 I feared
If I get back onto the ground
I will never be able to go back again
My wings hurt a little bit
but now I know
fear will go
fear will come
the trick I learnt
is to keep flying
and live the flight
may be for a moment
may be forever
