The Truth About Night Owls.

Posted on the 03 June 2013 by Mikidemann @mikidemann
A couple weekends ago my brother-in-law made a comment that had me flustered. We were talking about going on a hike/camping trip with him and he said he needed to find something for Jared and I to do in the morning while he goes on a bike ride. I told him not to worry about it because we'd probably sleep through the time that he was riding anyway. He said that made him uncomfortable. The fact that we could sleep in so "late" was "uncomfortable" for him because he felt like we had wasted our whole day.
SO HERE IS THE TRUTH. The truth about people like me, night owls.
The Truth about Night Owls.
- We are not lazy, sometimes we may sleep in until 1 or 2 or hell maybe even 3. However, we went to bed at 5am while you went to bed at 10pm ON A SATURDAY! While you may wake up and be active we do it differently... we choose to stay up and be active.
- We do have TONS of fun, just because we aren't up at 9am that doesn't mean we wasted our day sleeping. We were awake at 3am writing blog posts and walking the dogs while you were snoozing. Who sounds boring now?
- It's not always a choice. If I try to go to bed before 11pm on weekdays and 2am on weekends. IT WILL NOT HAPPEN. I didn't ask to be born a night owl, but I am one and I have adjusted my life accordingly.
- I've also heard that if I exercised or ate better my sleeping habits would be "regular". Not true. Been there, tried that.
- We sleep all the time. This is NOT true. We just sleep at different times than you do. If it's unnatural for you to be sleeping at noon on a Saturday, it is just as unnatural for me to be awake before noon on a Saturday.
What are some other misconceptions about Night Owls? Are you a Night Owl? The Truth about Night Owls.
