The Wine Room (Also Known As Heaven)

This past weekend, I had the pleasure of checking out The Wine Room on Park Avenue in Winter Park, Florida. Upon entering The Wine Room, you will choose a denomination of money to load onto your wine tasting card. Once loaded, you have the ability to walk the venue at your leisure and browse their selection of over 148 bottles on display. When you stumble across a wine that sounds intriguing, you insert your card into the machine the bottle is housed in, select the portion size you would like it to dispense, and voila, wine starts flowing into your glass!

The overall decor and cozy gathering nooks strategically arranged amongst the wine machines creates a posh, yet welcoming environment. Although my party arrived fairly early, while we sat outside and enjoyed hours of food, wine and good company, we noticed that the inside portion of the venue can become a bit overcrowded, with seating limited. My advice to you, come early and drink slowly while relaxing. There are more than enough wines to keep you occupied, and if you would like to switch to something solid…they have a dessert menu.

Ok, so I guess they have a “menu” that includes appetizers, flatbreads, cheese trays and sandwiches as well, but why eat that when you can have a Peanut Butter Explosion? (The Peanut Butter Explosion is what is pictured, and by the way, it was delicious). The dessert selection was so tempting, that my company and I may have possibly had a “backwards dinner,” where we started with dessert. Knowing that none of our mothers would approve of such reckless behavior, we eventually ordered flatbreads as well (mine even had tomato on it, you’re welcome mom). Of course the flatbread ordering may have come after another round of wine…but who is counting…

Overall, the Wine Room is a fun and swanky place for any group looking to relax over a glass (or three) of wine and good conversation. The outdoor seating, weather allowing, is a fantastic option as you get the fresh Florida air, but the extra entertainment of people (and pooch) watching. And after that extra glass of wine, that could be all the entertainment you need.

Cheers!
