I am trying something new today that I have never done with my blog before. Everyday, WordPress offers a “daily prompt.” It is a suggestion of a topic to write about. I have never tried this before, but have always wanted to. I think it will be fun to see what others have written, too, so here goes nothing. Today’s “daily prompt” is:
These Boots Were Made for Walking
Tell us about your favorite pair of shoes, and where they’ve taken you.
So, first…..here are the infamous shoes:
If you didn’t guess it. These are the shoes I wore on my wedding day. I loooooooovvvveeee them! Let me tell you a bit about them.
I lived in Santa Monica, CA at the time I was getting married. There was this amazing shoe store there called “Peter Fox” on Montana Ave. (http://www.peterfox.com/) The shoes are silk and hand-made from Italy and are known for comfort. It was my goal to be able to walk and dance all night long during my wedding. Some friends I know actually wore white sneakers under their wedding dresses, because afterall, if you’re wearing a floor-length wedding dress, then who actually sees the shoes anyways? I’m a little more traditional than that, but I also didn’t feel a need to wear strappy stilettos either. Peter Fox shoes were the answer for me!
Guess what? My satin Mary Janes were the epitome of comfort! They stayed on all day and night, and I never even thought of taking them off. They were perfect. I swore that I would only buy Peter Fox shoes when I needed something dressy from there on out.
Well….that did not happen. Peter Fox closed it stores both in Santa Monica and New York. They are now only available online. So…these are my one and only Peter Fox shoes. I have not walked great distances in these shoes, but I walked the most meaningful walk of my life in these shoes. It was one walk down a spiral staircase, into my husband’s arms and into the journey of marriage. The rest is history. Now that’s a good pair of shoes, huh?
This “daily prompt” is MADE for a song of the day. Isn’t it interesting that I would think of using the “daily prompt” on a day when it just so happened to be a song title? So, of course, my song of the day is Nancy Sinatra’s “These Boots Are Made for Walking.” Click HERE to hear it on Youtube, and know, blog readers, that my “boots” really were made for walking……..and dancing all night long!
