THESE DAYS...
These days, we've been homebodies, mostly. Cooking and eating and eating some more, and occasionally cleaning- that's what our days have been filled with.  We've been stewing pots of vegetables, roasting squashes, baking cakes, and simmering cocoa. Since the chill of the autumn season set in, all I've wanted to do is to fill the apartment with the warmth and aromas of hot wintery food.  Then there was that one time last week when Gaby brought home a pizza, which was a treat.  Most of the time we forget to take advantage of the fact that in New York City you can get pretty great pizza on virtually every street corner.
These days, Biet walks, REALLY WALKS! Everywhere.  She's got the confidence and stamina of someone about a thousand times her size, and she just wants to go all of the time.  She has even begun pointing her little finger straight forward, arm extended, and yelling "go!" all day long.  Our stroller was rendered useless about 7 days ago, when Biet discovered the awesomeness that is walking the streets of the city.  Coincidentally,  it broke the next time we tried to put her in it. The company has been great and is sending us a new one, but it will take 8-10 weeks to arrive. Biet is not complaining.
These days, we're settling back in to normal life after the hurricane, and attempting to set up some more formal routines in our house.  I realized the other day that this little boy will be here in just 16 weeks, so maybe its time to have Biet on a bit stricter of a sleeping schedule.  She's always been stubborn about bedtimes, so we are working now on straightening that out.  I think that the sleeplessness which accompanies mothering a newborn will be far easier to handle if we at least know what to expect with the rest of the family.  So these days, we've been detailing and testing new routines, some of which will hopefully stick and bring a bit more structure to our lives.
These days, we've been feeling like a real family, Gaby and I both agree.  No longer like two parents with a baby, but like a single unified family, with three distinct personalities (four, with Nico, and soon to be five!). These days have been really good.
**And the WINNER of the Cozy Posey giveaway is Kelly P. Thank you to everyone who entered and congratulations Kelly!**
