These Things Always Happen To Me

I'm on the 5th of 5 days off. I took the shift off Sunday so I could thoroughly enjoy Saturday night's party (which i thoroughly did) and after an easy Sunday at the house and a low-key night last night, i somehow end up driving home last night in what surely must have looked like a stolen vehicle rampaging down the streets of Corpus since the horn was blaring and alarm was sounding and i was helpless to get them to shut off. Yeah, and this is in my own truck ..no joke...
These things always happen to me.
Where to start? How about Saturday night.. About a month and a half ago on my birthday, Sprunger and I stumbled onto this unbelievable house party with live music and open bar and free everything where everyone was having a great time, a bartender was serving drinks, a neighbor was leaving the party in his personal helicopter, and i couldn't stop messaging all my friends to get out there cuz it was just that off the hook. (If you're not up to speed, just read this entry.) Well Saturday was round 2. I'm not sure what the occasion was the first time around, but this time it was Sprunger's friend Roger's birthday so you knew it was gonna be a great time. It's worth mentioning that Mike the homeowner which is Roger's father-in-law couldn't be a nicer guy. I've only known him from the two parties at his place that i've been to and each time he greets me like we've known each other for years. Great guy. And if one thing is true, it's that Mike knows how to throw his friends a party.
Food, drinks, music, and good company. We had a blast. And don't forget Mariana the cute Brazilian  (pictured left). Roger and Sprunger and their coworkers all work for alcohol distributors so that starts to explain just how they have what seems like bottomless coolers and cabinets filled with beer and liquor at the party, but what really made it good is that it's always a good mix of people, no one getting out of hand, everyone just having a good time. Now, sure, once the crowd thinned out and it got to 3 and 4 am you'll have some guys doing what guys do that late into a party which is shotgun the rest of the Tecate's but that's neither her nor there (Don't know how you do it, Hector, but it was fun to watch). All in all, the party was a huuuuge success and i was glad to have Sunday off.
That gutteral grunt at the end of the video always cracks me up.
Ok, so then there was Sunday and Monday and i haven't even gotten to me driving my truck home like a maniac with the alarm going off. (Note to self: seriously consider having less adventures inbetween blog entries cuz trying to cram so many day's worth of stuff into one blog is making my brain melt). Sunday started right at the crack of noon with the ok i'm sorry, but Nick just texted me that he's out and about and that's pretty much all i needed to hear cuz i'm friggin starving. I'll come back later and finish this. [...]K. Much better. It's 10:38 and after spending all day out and about with Nick and Bruce having drinks, then eating a burger and half an order of quesadillas at Recess, I got back home in time to change and head out to the Ignite presentation, ate afterward, and now I'm back. Now where was i.... oh yeah, Then there was Sunday and Monday. Sunday started right at the crack of noon with me turning on the tv to watch every football game (thank you DirecTv) and as i'm getting comfy on the couch Sprunger calls me and says "hey, i'm on my way". It's become Sunday tradition to watch the games over at my house and when Sprunger is involved that means he's bringing bottles. If you're taking notes, Apple Vodka is delicious with coke.
Easy Sunday became even easier Monday. That is, until Monday night. It started easy enough. Watched Texas hit a walk off grand slam in the 11th to win the game at Sprunger's, then watched half the monday night game at Jhavid and Jeannette's, and watched the second half at Manny's. But then as i'm leaving to head home and call it a night, i reach into my pocket, pull out my keys, and notice that the remote alarm dealio that's normally on my keychain isn't there. Hmm.."Dude, we gotta go back inside your buddy's apt. The alarm dealio must've fallen off the keyring and out of my pocket and into couch." No luck. Fast forward 30 minutes and i'm driving down Saratoga trying to get home with my car alarm going off and i can't friggin turn it off. See, I had my key to get in, but once i opened the door the alarm went off. I figured that once i turned the vehicle on and put it in gear that it would shut off but noooo. And what does Sprunger do when this is happening? If you answered c)Walks away as fast as he can and goes back inside Manny's apt then you answered correct. Thanks, dude. So i'm in my truck looking like a horrible car thief scrambling and trying to get it to stop and finally after about 3 minutes it does. Sprunger peeks his head back out and walks over to my truck. He opens the door, and of course my alarm goes off again. "Just get in, dude". I start hauling butt to his place (which is right around the corner) and it stops after a minute, but then of course he has to open the door and there goes the alarm again. This is both cracking me up and driving me nuts. I then haul ass back home with my friggin alarm going on and off down Saratoga all the way home until i finally get to my place, park it in my garage, and lie in bed hearing it finally turn off a few minutes later. My neighbors probably think i'm nuts. After a phone call to Toyota this morning i figured out how to disarm it. Thank god. These things always happen to me. Good thing i'm documenting my life :)
