Things That Make Me Uncomfortable - Day 3

Day 3 of my Blog Every Day in May Challenge!

There are quite a few things that make me uncomfortable. These are some that I have picked out.

People who I don't know very well, invading my personal space.  Some people just stand too close, and you are forever backing up and then they take another step closer. You end up doing a sort of bizarre slow fox trot dance around the floor during your conversation!
New situations where I don’t know what to expect. I am very socially awkward and inept. If I don’t know what is going to happen or what is expected of me then I get very nervous and anxious.

Having a messy house makes me uncomfortable and makes me feel like I just can’t relax. But with four young children on the rampage, it is something that I will live with for a little while. They are only young onceand I would much rather have a messy house filled with happiness and giggling and noise, than a meticulously clean house that is quiet and empty.
Feeling like I am being watched. Sometimes when you are all sitting down listening or watching something and you feel someone’s eyes on you. You turn, and they are just unashamedly staring at you.  When I was younger I would squirm in my seat and feel so self conscious. These days I feel the same but mixed in with it is a whole lot of irritation. If I am feeling a bit more confident than usual I will stare them down. Occasionally I even win the staring comp. and they will look away. What is it with that? Didn’t their mommy ever tell them it’s rude to stare!

Speaking in public. I know this is nothing unusual. I think it is at the number one spot for people’s fears. For a week of more beforehand I cannot think of anything else. It makes me feel sick and gives me a headache, and I usually end up in a big heap of failure unable to do it. So I do not accept speaking assignments. For the angst and stress it gives me it is just not worth it.
Hot and humid Brisbane summers, now they really make me uncomfortable. ;-)
