This is God's Plan?

Posted on the 16 July 2013 by Albert Wagner @albertwagner4
Recently a You Tube video emerged with three girls speaking out.  They claimed to be the high profile Cleveland, Ohio kidnapping victims Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus and Michelle Knight.
Apparently they wanted to respond to the media frenzy about what they went through while maintaining privacy in their lives.  While watching the 3 minute video released July 8 a statement by (someone claiming to be) Michelle Knight stood out. She had reportedly been through difficult times even before an abduction, impregnation and a miscarriage.  She said,
"God's plan for me is to help others who are in the same situation."   - Michelle Knight, You Tube video
God's Plan
Instead of wanting to talk a lot about the negative things she went through she wanted to talk about what good could come from it.  This brings up some interesting points about what God's plan consists of.  Usually it consists of:
  • Suffering in some way.
  • God turning what looks like evil into good in the long term.
  • Something we did not expect.
"I Will Not Let This Experience Define Me." What Michelle Knight went through undoubtedly involved suffering.  However, it could also lead to helping someone along the way.  The woman on the video claiming to be Michelle Knight  also made audacious statements, such as:
" I will not let this experience define me.  I will define it."   - Michelle Knight, You Tube video
With an attitude like that she could possibly help others in a way only someone could who had been through the same thing.  This might not sound like a "plan" by human reasoning, but God's ways are unknown to us.  He knows how things end and we do not.  Confiding in a person who had not experienced the same thing might be embarrassing.

There is an ancient Wiccan belief that there is a basic pattern for your life and even your bad decisions do not thwart that basic plan.  (It is like getting lost, but still finding your destination).  This plan for your life was in place before you were even conceived.
How this plan and free will fit together would be another post.
God's plan might involve other pieces, as well.
Perhaps the suffering in God's plan is also so other people appreciate the little things in life more.  When parents see this video and think of their own children it should make them think.  Perhaps knowledge from this incident could also help prevent it from happening in other circumstances.  Also, a Chinese proverb states that one bad act is followed by 10,000 good ones.  These are some of the ways God can turn evil into good.
God's plan is, indeed, mysterious.
This adds meaning to life because:  Although circumstances can seem dim now humans are not aware of all of God's larger plan and how it ends.
Please note:  This post is not to say what happened to the three girls is excusable.  It is merely trying to see what good, if any, can come from it.
