Getting sloshed on cider at a party at my neighbours house, fun on a woodland walk, a bit of a Yo Sushi binge, sleepy cat friends.
I’ve been a bit busy this week but thought I’d pop in and fill you in with what I’ve been up to. I know that I’ve been a bit quiet lately but the fact is that I’m struggling with a depressive phase right now and it’s really dented my motivation and creativity. Hopefully things will be back to normal again soon but in the meantime I’m reading loads and cracking on with From Whitechapel, which is nearing completion now.
It’s not all been bad though – I’ve been trying to get out to see people and trying to have some fun rather than lurking at home all the time feeling sorry for myself.
Princess Diana and me, Irregular Choice cat shoes, is it too soon to start getting ready for Halloween?, Bloom gin.
I’m really looking forward to the new film about Princess Diana – are you? I know it’s going to be DREADFUL but I love that schmaltzy sort of nonsense!
I think I may have some trouble persuading my husband to come with me though. We’ve been going to the cinema quite a lot lately, which is nice, but even he has his limits.
Anjum’s Indian Vegetarian Feast, a sunny day in the park, Old Tom Gin, my sitting room.
I’m having some friends over for dinner tomorrow night and have been excitedly going through my cookery books for inspiration. I think I’m going to make an epic Indian feast followed by a vegan cake. There will definitely be plenty of gin on offer as well as I’ve been working on building up my collection with two new gins in the last few weeks – first of all Bloom, which is a light floral flavoured gin, while Old Tom is based on a Victorian sweet gin with brown sugar and spices. Yum.
One thing that has really cheered me up is sorting out our house – I’ve been buying furniture, bedding and all manner of stuff and getting all of my pictures (of which there are MANY) framed and hung properly. It’s starting to look fantastic – really bohemian and comfortable, which I think is what I was going for when I started out.
An apocalyptic sunset over Bristol, fossil hunting on the coast, an epic Amazon parcel, picnic time!
I have to tell you about the fabulous time we had at Quantoxhead beach on Sunday afternoon! I used to be madly into fossil hunting when I was a little girl and have been longing to share this enthusiasm with the boys although I wasn’t sure HOW as I didn’t think we had any fossil hunting spots nearby. How wrong I was as we actually have a stretch of Jurassic coastline nearby in Somerset! We duly headed out on Sunday and after parking in a tiny and rather sweet little village took the path down to the beach, which was really rocky and rugged and covered in fossils! Of course we wanted to find some of our own but there were more than enough large ammonites, too big to be moved elsewhere, to keep us happy in the meantime. It was wonderful.
Fossils!
