Those Were The Days My Friend, #1144

Connections 2015 co-chairs, Julie Zorn & Vida Barron with speaker, Sarri Singer in the middle.

For the last two years, I have co-chaired a Woman’s Philanthropy event for the Jewish Federation of Southern Arizona called “Connections.”  It is usually attended by approximately 300 women, and it is the final campaign push for this group of dedicated donors.  We bring in a speaker every year, and it is a very anticipated brunch where one sees many “l’dor v’dor” (generation to generation) of mothers and daughters in the audience.

My two year commitment is coming to end tomorrow and what a fabulous ride it has been.  My first year, my amazing Mama took me under her wing and showed me the ropes leading the way on how to run an event of this calibre with style and grace.  She is the most excellent role model, and I learn from her everyday.

This year, I am working with another inspirational woman, Vida Barron, who cares so deeply for her community and will do anything for its success.  What an honor it has been to share this leadership role with her, too.  She is just remarkable, and I walk away feeling confident that next year will be outstanding with her at the helm.

So, when Connections ends at noon tomorrow, I will hang up my hat with a collection of incredible memories and having learned so much.

My song of the day is for the Jewish Federation of Southern Arizona and their incredible staff that makes a volunteer’s job easy.  They are a well oiled machine and a pleasure to work with.  We are so blessed in our community to have this team of individuals working hard to make our community and the world a better place every single day.  I look forward to other future moments that we get to spend together and want to extend a huge todah rabah (thank you) to the amazing JFSA!  You are the very best of the best!

Enjoy Mary Hopkins singing “Those Were the Days My Friend,” a song that really just should have been a Jewish song (even though it’s not) with a niggun (Jewish song without words) stuck right in the middle of it.  I chose this one, because as I put on my party dress and dust some blush into my cheeks tomorrow morning, I will be thinking of all the memories of the past two very special wonderful years.  What a great time it’s been.
