Three Weeks
This little lady is three weeks old! I can't believe that next week marks a month that she has been in our lives. It is crazy how much she changes and grows day by day. I am thinking she has to be close to 10 pounds and her newborn sized clothes are getting "short" on her. 0-3 months clothing is still baggy, but she is definitely a tall baby.

All of our family was supposed to leave by Wednesday, but last minute my mom changed her flight and is staying an extra week. I feel so blessed by this, as we are still trying to get a handle on everything. Ryan is back at work, so it's nice to still have an extra set of hands. Even with my mom here, some days I don't get to shower.

Breastfeeding is still a challenge - I feel like I'm not making any extra milk. I'm eating oatmeal, drinking a lot of fluids and even drinking the milkmaid tea. Rilynn wants to eat constantly (like every 30-60 minutes sometimes) and after she is done there is maybe 1/4 - 1/2 ounce of milk left in my two boobs combined. It's so frustrating. I wanted to pump enough so Ryan and I could go on a date before my mom leaves, but after two days, I still have less than 3 ounces. Rilynn eats a minimum of 3 ounces at a bottle feeding - and even then she is still hungry sometimes. So if you have any ideas of how to increase milk production, let me know! I am pumping 10-15 minutes extra after her feedings already as well.

My emotions have definitely calmed down. The past week I haven't cried much and I don't feel so much like a "crazy person". Rilynn is kind enough to sleep 5-6 hours at a time some nights, but other nights she is up every 90 minutes. In the middle of the night I tell myself I am going to nap the whole next day, but once I get up every morning I never find a spare moment to sleep until the next evening. During the day I feel like I am well rested - it never hits me until 2am or later that night.

Rilynn really is a great baby. Besides wanting to constantly breastfeed and my nipples being really sore, she isn't fussy and she sleeps fairly well. My only other complaint is that my breakouts on both my face and back have gotten ten times worse since her birth. I guess I am one of the unlucky ladies who get hormonal acne even worse through breastfeeding. I am trying everything I can find, but nothing is helping. It is so painful. Again, if you guys have any suggestions I would love to hear them. It's sometimes hard to find effective treatments that are still safe for breastfeeding moms.

That's about it! I will be writing up Rilynn's birth story this week and also sharing her newborn shoot as well. Here are a few photos of what we have been up to this past week:
