I’ve been teaching Halloween music at a couple of the schools I work at, and yesterday, I let the kids listen to the song “Thriller” by Michael Jackson. It’s amazing that this song is about 30-years-old, and kids still react to it the same way that I did when I was their age.
I was in 5th grade when “Thriller” came out, and I remember being at a friend’s birthday slumber party when “The Making of Thriller” video was released. We were all so engrossed, and it was the biggest thing in the world to watch this video together. We were obsessed as we practiced the choreography together and loved, loved, loved Michael Jackson!
I still have a hard time believing that he is gone. His music keeps him alive, and again, kids I work with still love his music just as much as the music from today. All of my elementary school students know Michael and his music, and he is definitely one of their favorites right along with all of the modern artists.
