Time to Do All the Things!

Well I’m posting a little earlier than normal because (wait for it….) I have to go to work!  Yes, that’s right, the Odyssey of the job hunt is over, I’ve made it to Ithaca.  I have (finally) a part time job.  It’s working retail and today is my second day of training.  I’ll be getting around 10-20 hours a week which doesn’t sound like much now but it’ll be perfect once my student teaching starts.  I’m so excited.  I feel like this massive weight has been lifted off my shoulders and I now have paychecks coming every Friday!  Which means there will be lots of cross-stitch thread purchases in my future, not to mention books…and all that school/grad school application money that needs to go out.  Life is expensive…

As my time is slowly starting to disappear I’ve been trying to figure out ways to keep up with my books and my stitching while working and lesson planning so we’ll see how that all goes.  I’ve convinced myself if I plan more and cut out all my “I-have-a-facebook-app-on-my-phone-so-I-should-check-it-for-two-hours” time I’ll still have time for everything.  I’m really just excited to be doing work that pays though.  I feel like giving the universe a hug.  The second I stopped worrying about things the job just fell into my lap.  They called Thursday, I had orientation Friday, and am now on the payroll.  So further proof that sometimes things do work out!

Now, onto the cross-stitch work in-progress.

the final set of windows

Here’s the final set of windos on the left side, and the left edge had been completely finished.  I still love the light effect of the pinks and oranges.  It looks so inviting.

It’s all coming together

Now you can see how it’s all coming together.  Of course you can’t see the bottom and the top together until it’s finished because that’s the downfall of scrollframes but I’m so excited to finish it and see the whole thing.  I have to say I think this might be my favorite cross-stitch pattern so far.  It’s so detailed but hasn’t been too difficult to stitch and yet it just looks fantastic.

you probably didn’t notice…but I messed this up.

I thought for sure this would be the first pattern I worked without a mistake…and then I somehow managed to get this whole window backwards with my half cross-stitch going in the wrong direction.  I thought about unpicking it but finally decided to just leave it and see if anyone notices.  It blends in well and once I get the stitches around it done it probably won’t be noticeable at all.

Well, I’m off to work for the day so I won’t be reading or doing crafty things until this afternoon, but I hope you all have a great day, get some coffee, do something crafty, and read a good book!
