To Char

Posted on the 11 June 2011 by Homesmsp @HomesMSP

On April 16th, I wrote this as part of my blog:

Yesterday, we found out that my Mother In Law's cancer is back.  She's a long term breast cancer survivor and I never thought we'd get that call.  The cancer is now in her lungs, esophagus and they're running tests to find out if it's spread to anywhere else.  I met her 39 years ago this month and I've loved her ever since.  She welcomed a very young girl in to her home and made her feel special.  I've always been close to my family, but she has always made me feel close to their family as well.  She lives up near Moorhead, so we don't get up there as often as we'd like.  As I reflect on the years, it seems like yesterday that I married her son...and yet we just celebrated our 37th anniversary.  She was only 39 when we married!!  Today, my emotions are still raging and I keep wondering why a wonderful person like her has to go through this again.   I wish I could answer why, but all I can do is support her during this difficult time.  And, I need to be strong for my Husband who is broken hearted that his Mom is going to go through this again.
---------------------------

On April 20th, we were told she had 8-12 months to live.  We were heartbroken. And then we were even more heartbroken when she passed away on May 27th. I have spent the past couple of weeks trying to deal with this harsh reality.  The funeral is done and we're surviving by working through this together as a family.  Too fast?  Too young? Yes and Yes. Glad she isn't going to be in any pain?  Yes.  ....but she's physically gone and it hurts.

So this blog is simply dedicated to the best Mother In Law anyone could ever have, Charlotte Anderson.  I'll miss you Char and I'll love your Son forever......
