Too Much Death

I have never been confronted with such an overwhelming wave of deaths around me. Ever since the year started, we have been hit by no less than five losses among our friends and acquaintances. We've tried to bear them as "cheerfully" as possible, but this week alone, we've received two phone calls announcing the deaths of two old acquaintances. We've been to so many funerals in the last months that we actually ran out of Xanax. Aside from the sadness of the events, we've acquired some sort of sudden and fervent cautiousness regarding our lifestyle, we are much more careful with our diets and we exercise more...I know it won't last us long...of course unless someone else dies...God forbid!
