Get rid
of the winter blues by freshening up your home with a good ol’ Spring cleaning.
Yes, it is that time of the year! Time for giving your home an inside out,
thorough cleaning. This means windows, doors, walls, floors, everything! If you
don’t know where to start or maybe want to cut down on your cleaning time –
I’ve put together some tips and tricks.
Schedule
it and organize it.
It’s
important to have a plan of action to know which room to tackle first and what
areas need your focus. Schedule your time accordingly to the tasks you have to
do in each room. This article on Oprah shares a
Spring cleaning checklist to guarantee you’ll finish your Spring cleaning in one day.
Clear the
clutter.
Declutter
your home before starting to clean. Otherwise, once your home is sparkling
clean the last thing you’ll want to do is to take everything out of the drawers
and wardrobes to sort them out (even more if it is that one miscellaneous
drawer in the kitchen!).
The Handy Squad, London handyman
business, published an article on their blog about easy winter home improvement
projects, in
which they mention the importance of decluttering your home, even before Spring
starts. They refer to Marie Kondo’s method of asking yourself if you need and
love certain belongings, if the answer is yes, keep them, if no, either throw
them away, sell them or give them to charity.
From top
to bottom.
Do your
cleaning from the ceiling down, this will ensure that any dust and debris will
fall on the floor and can easily be vacuumed after. This will prevent you from
having to clean your floors again, so don’t forget to start from top to bottom.
Think
about seasonal chores.
As the
warm weather is on its way, Good House Keeping recommends
starting to get your garden and patio furniture ready for lounging. But don’t stop there! Whilst
you are taking care of your outdoor area, why not do some other seasonal
outdoor chores? From pressure washing patios, and cleaning the windows to
treating outdoor wooden furniture and more.
