Sometimes you just need a little pick-me-up.
I have been tired and unmotivated lately. I kind of feel like I am just going through the motions instead of living life. I think a lot of it is my job is dragging me down. My work is becoming increasing unfulfilling; I sit there trying so hard NOT to go on other blogs or search the web. I am in a bit of a funk. I feel like it is time for a change. I NEED a change right now.
In comes my fabulous sister who is incredibly motivating and inspiring. She is competing every day on the World Cup, having unbelievable ups and downs and somehow she manages to cheer me up.
We were chatting on Skype and I started to complain. Let’s just say she was NOT having it!
I was talking about how I wasn’t happy at my job and wanted explore freelance and potentially write more, but felt like that would be a huge commitment entailing a lot of research, time, energy and probably schooling. And, I don’t have time for any of that.
Her response:
[10:45:32 AM] Julia: making excuses is just an excuse for not trying
[10:45:43 AM] Julia: if you really want to do something, you will find a way
She proceeded to send these…
“[11:14:44 AM] Julia:Mattie everyone’s life is challenging.. especially everyone your age, to some extent, but instead of ignoring it because it is easier, you have to grow a sac and do something about it
[11:14:44 AM] Julia: have some gumption~!”
“Grow a sac and do something about it!!” hah OK, so I will. Sometimes you just need a little tough love to realize there is so much more in life; why waste your days feeling sorry for yourself? Get up and do something about it. I will start to seek more freelance opportunities, I will find more time for myself and my writing and I will make an effort to do things that make me happy. Starting with going for a run, cooking a great dinner and watching a good movie.
[I know there is no writing involved in that, but happiness comes first before all else. Once I have some me time I will be ready to focus on other ventures]
Thanks Julia! Now GO SKI FAST!

Before I say bye, I wanted to share the leg workout I did this morning. I am on week 3 of the LiveFit Fitness plan and man did it get tougher this week. My hamstrings were burning, they actually felt like they were going to snap so I eased off a little.

Question: Do you have anyone you turn to, to get a good kick in the pants?
How do you typically get out of a funk at work or in life?
