Hey guys! I miss you! I feel like I haven’t read any of your blogs, which I haven’t so it’s more of a statement than a feeling, but I hate missing out on what’s going on. The last few days have been pretty jammed packed with stuff and I haven’t found some precious blogging time. I’m thinking about scheduling an hour at 3:45 or something.
So I’m totally bummed about finally deciding that my dream of a 1/2 marathon on the Vegas Strip in December is definitely not going to happen. And I really liked the idea of “training” so, simple solution… I’m still training!
What?!
Yep. Still training. Because I don’t follow rules very well…. even when I make them.
How to make a Maren-esq training plan. Please note, I’m not a training master so my training credentials include double fisting cookies while running 1.5 mile loops around my house and being a 100meter sprinter in high school (which I did find a way to pace myself in the hundred… I totally slowed down at the 25 meter mark and sped up again at the 65 in every single race. My coach wanted to strangle me).
I really liked how the Hal Higdon 1/2 Marathon plan for beginners was set up so I used it as a model.
First I needed a sheet of paper because I’m a visual learner and have to see the entire week while planning. I also only planned from now through October.
I also bought a pretty awesome app iProcrastinate to get my training schedule on my phone for reminders!
For the month of October I’m doing cross training twice a week, running 2, 3, and 2.5 miles during the week. And doing a long run either on Saturday or Sunday that is between 3 and 4.5 miles.
Then I’ll go up to 4.5-6 miles after October and increase my mileage during the week.
What do you think? Am I training?
My normal freakish self would have made a much more type-A plan that was much more hard and exhaustive but I really want to be successful. I’m still not 100% on top of my tummy troubles and need to have cushion for missed training days.
Hopefully this plan will have me primed for 1/2 Marathon training by 2012!
Tell me about you!!!!!! I want to know……
What shirt are you wearing today? Any why?
I’m wearing my favorite white tee with long sleeves. It’s soft and super comfy.
What was the best birthday present you’ve ever gotten?
Well the Garmin 305 Max got me this year was pretty awesome. But I also loved the elephant slide I got on my 2nd birthday. (I road down head first with my dress flying up around my head… there are seriously a never ending supply of pictures documenting this and seem to appear at really embarrassing times.)
Do you like curry?
YES!!!!!
