TRAVEL DIARY: NEW YEAR, NEW YORKHello everyone!Welcome back to my blog. Before I begin, I just want to say thank you so much for all your amazing comments and kind words on my last post. I was seriously blown away by all the support, especially after being away from blogging so such a long time, I was made to feel welcomed back with open arms which was really sweet so thank you :)
For the New Year 2017, we made plans to go away over New Year to New York as it has been something we've both wanted to do for so long and because of my old job working in retail, you are never allowed to take time off over December- January time, so now that I have my current job I was finally able to go away over the holidays! I found it really strange packing for a cold weather holiday as I'd never done that before but found it surprisingly easy when I was basically packing what I'd wear on a normal day in the UK. After an absolute nightmare of a time traveling there and getting completely lost on the way to the hotel, we eventually made it there in one piece and just in time to get ourselves ready for our New Year's Eve plans.
TRAVEL DIARY: NEW YEAR, NEW YORKWe stayed at the INNSIDE New York Nomad hotel which was wonderful. The staff were amazing, they were always really friendly and more than happy to help you out with any queries and the decor was gorgeous too both around the hotel and our room, especially with it still being around the holidays, it was still all christmassy in the lobby too with a big christmas tree covered in golden decorations. We got to our room and we had an incredible view of the Empire State Building right outside our window which made it extra special. Especially as for New Year it was lit up with all these beautiful colours (shown above) and changed to green and red the other days we were there.TRAVEL DIARY: NEW YEAR, NEW YORKOnce we were settled into our room and unloaded our cases, we began getting ready for the night. We had booked tickets for the New Year's Eve Cruise aboard the Atlantis Yacht which was a boat cruise along the Hudson river with a buffer dinner, open bar and a dance floor, as well as free champagne to toast at midnight and an amazing view of the fireworks over the Statue of Liberty. We did our research before we left and found that Times Square at midnight wasn't all it cracked up to be so we thought the boat cruise sounded amazing and would be much more intimate and memorable event for us to attend.TRAVEL DIARY: NEW YEAR, NEW YORKTRAVEL DIARY: NEW YEAR, NEW YORKDress: TFNC London, Heels: Dune, Bag (not shown): Versus Versace, Earrings (not shown): Vivienne Westwood.
As the dress code was black tie optional, I had been unsure about what was acceptable attire but I had managed to get in touch with a member of the events team to confirm what sort of outfit was acceptable and they were happy to help which I thought was really good that they did that and when we were onboard the yacht there was a mix of super glam, formal and smart casual, so it was a good mix. The issue I had was when I was looking around online for more information about the yacht event there wasn't a lot that was given away about how it looked inside or what the dress code looked like so hopefully this gives a little more of an idea. I opted for this TFNC paris scallop gold sequinned dress from TFNC London which I fell in love with as soon as I saw it. I had looked for other options too just to make sure it was definitely what I wanted, I had looked at others that were maybe more on the 'super glam' side but I kept finding myself being drawn to this one over and over again and it was cheaper than other ones I'd seen so saved myself some pennies! I teamed it with my Vivienne Westwood drop orb earrings, midnight blue sparkly nails for a contrast, with Versus Versace lion head shoulder bag and with my pewter heels from Dune to complete the look.

The whole night was amazing! We shared a table with two welsh couples and two german couples and everyone was so welcoming and friendly which made it even more special having others who were so easy going and of course, in the festive spirit too. The food was so delicious, with a good variety to pick from and the bar had also created their own special cocktail menu for the night too. When it was close to midnight we stood out on the middle deck out the back as it was so cold on the top deck so you were a bit more sheltered from the wind where we were and had the most incredible view of New York skyline from the yacht. The DJ began the countdown and played all the celebratory songs, everyone around us cheering and shouting 'Happy New Year!' at the tops of their lungs and hugging their loved ones and then watching the fireworks over the Statue of Liberty began whilst Frank Sinatra's New York, New York and Alicia Keys' New York played as the soundtracks to the occasion. It was honestly one of those 'pinch me' moments and a memory that will stick for me for the rest of my life. It was absolutely perfect and such an amazing way to celebrate the New Year.
