True Story

I witnessed a hit and run on Tuesday, almost....
My husband and I were on our way to the 99 cents store.  We were passing Walgreens and there was this old man crossing the intersection that crosses out onto the main street.  There was a driver in a burgundy Malibu who "wasn't paying attention" and drove forward to get onto the main street.  He hit the old man hard enough to make him hit the windshield and do a complete roll backwards off of the hood of his car.  I screamed at my husband to turn around to see if he was alright.  He did and there were already two other drivers over there making sure this guy was okay.  His nose was bleeding and he looked disoriented.  So did the driver.  I think that he was drunk or high.  Anyway, the driver told us all that he was going to take him to the hospital but when he left he went in the opposite direction.  I was like "Ugh-Ugh!  You better go get that fool" in my Madea voice to my husband.  We and the other drivers followed the Malibu driver after 911 was called and police were quickly in pursuit.  We pointed them in the right direction and the Malibu driver was blocked in an alley near some houses.  We all got out of our cars and waited.  Two policemen walked over and said everything was okay.  They said that the two men (Malibu driver and old man) knew each other and that the old man said he was okay.
Ain't that somethin'?
Here I thought that Malibu driver was going to dump the old man in a ditch somewhere and drive off.
True story.
