Tyne's Easter Basket & Our Easter Plans!
You may recall that last year I wrote a post about the Easter Basket I put together for Tyne...
This is a tradition I want to keep going every year for Tyne and his soon-to-be born brother, it's something I really enjoy doing and I think it's nice to put together a little selection of Easter goodies for them instead of just buying yet another egg since they end up with so many from relatives anyway.
This year I started planning Tyne's basket early as I've been a bit concerned about perhaps being in hospital having the baby over Easter itself, so I wanted to make sure that it was all sorted out!
I knew I wanted to include some Easter themed books, so I had a browse on Amazon...it was quite difficult to find anything suitable and age appropriate but in the end I narrowed it down to the these three.

Easter - This is a toddler-friendly version of the Easter story, it gets the story across well without being too graphic for little ears and the light and colourful illustrations help to make it appealing. As with Christmas, I want to make sure that Tyne understands the reasons behind the celebrations but I want to make sure that we introduce him to these things appropriately and don't overwhelm him. Thomas & The Easter Egg Hunt - Tyne is of course a real Thomas fanatic, and so when I saw that there was a Thomas book with an Easter theme we had to have it! I know this will be the first thing he goes for in the basket!
Ruby & Max Easter Sticker & Activity Book - Tyne absolutely loves watching Ruby & Max on TV...much to my dismay as I think it's possibly one of the worst and irritating kids programmes out there!!!...and he also loves sticker books, so I know this will be a hit and it's nice to have an activity book to keep him occupied too.
The basket also contains:
*Crayons - for colouring in the Easter book *A cuddly toy - I like to put an Easter themed cuddly in as it just looks so cute in the basket and what child doesn't like cuddly toys!? *Some chocolate treats! - I do still like to include chocolate eggs because...well...it's Easter! This year Tyne has a Pirate face egg from M & S...he saw this when we were shopping there a few weeks ago and loved it, so I thought he'd appreciate it!

I haven't put together a basket for the new baby as nobody knows whether or not he'll be here by Easter so it seems a bit silly! I did buy Tyne some Easter things for his very first Easter at 5 days old, more as keepsakes than anything else...but I think I'm going to pass on that this time if new baby is here by then!
For younger babies, here's a look at Tyne's basket from last year...you can click HERE to read more about what's inside.

Plans For Easter
As for Easter itself, it's all pretty up in the air as we just don't know whether I'll be in hospital having the baby or not...which makes it difficult to plan anything!
Usually Easter is a family occasion for us...my parents are almost always visiting, and we have an Easter lunch together one day and do an Easter egg hunt for all the children together, and on another day my sister often has an Easter Buffet at her house...I suppose we're like a lot of other families in that Easter is traditionally a time we all like to spend together. I was reading the other day that Easter is one of the main times of year that families make the effort to spend the day together, and it's actually when a lot of hearing problems are picked up on by visiting family members...unusual little fact for you!
This year it really just depends on what's happening with the baby...if I'm recovering from surgery then I won't feel up to doing much, and if I'm in hospital then I obviously won't have a choice!
We're just going to have to see what happens...ideally I'd like to be able to have a nice Easter lunch at home, and do an Easter Egg Hunt for Tyne on one of the Easter days...so fingers crossed!
I've made sure that I've got Tyne's Easter Basket put together, and I've picked up this rather cool egg for Jon too!

But whatever happens, the Easter Bunny will be bringing Tyne a little brother at some point around that time this year so I guess it's going to be special regardless of what we actually do to celebrate it!
