Posted on the 24 May 2013 by Jakemontgomery @LTDOnlineStores

It’s that time again, TWI readers, for another Weekly Round-Up! This week has been very style-focused for us, so we hope you love colors, ideas, inspirations, and things that get your creative juices flowing!

This time around, we find the most magical bathroom accessory you will ever see… then, we compare common design tropes in masculine and feminine bathroom design. We explore the new popularity of the color green in home furniture, investigate methods of reducing bathroom waste and freeing up some space with a little help from GLAD, and finally, we follow-up on an old story we’ve been keeping our eye on: remember when Matt Damon went on a bathroom strike? Well, now he’s got friends! Be sure to check out who else has joined his cause.

Ready to dive in? We sincerely hope you enjoy this Round-Up, and have a happy Friday and a safe Memorial Day Weekend!

1. A Super-Magical Toothbrush Holder for the Fantastical Bathroom

Your bathroom is nearly complete. You’ve fully decked it out with colorful lights, a sequined shower curtain, a super fluffy rug, and a sparkling frame for your mirror. What’s missing? What’s the final piece of the puzzle that would take your bathroom from “meh” to “magical?” Why, this unicorn toothbrush holder, of course! As featured on Holycool, this toothbrush holder gets gold stars and full credit for quirkiness. With a shiny metallic finish and intricate attention to detail (your toothbrush is the horn! Get it?), this holder is perfect for the bathroom that has everything, or your favorite Madeleine L’Engle fan.

2. A Look at Some Beautiful “His/Her” Bathrooms

A beautiful example of a feminine bathroom design with some unisex elements

Via Decoist

Decoist impressed us with their collection of stunning masculine and feminine bathroom images. Some of these designs are truly inspiring, perfect for generating your own ideas for a masculine or feminine bathroom. Rich, woody tones and dark stone exemplify the masculine style, while bright colors and soft edges tend to skew more towards a female audience. Which style is the right one for your bathroom?

3. Cut Down on Clutter and Waste in Your Bathroom With GLAD

It's easier to organize your bathroom and cut back on waste with the right storage solution

Via Making It Lovely

Nicole over at Making It Lovely took some time to “lovely-fy” her bathroom storage space in her home, making it more efficient and less wasteful. Her tips are very good ones for anyone looking to reduce their waste footprint. Removing unnecessary toiletries and items, re-organizing the space to reduce clutter, re-using old shampoo bottles, making the effort to recycle old goods… there are some great ideas here that can surely switch on a light bulb or two. And if you are looking for even more waste-reducing bathroom ideas, check out GLAD’s “Trim Your Waste” program linked to in the article. BONUS! The program includes a Contest that you should totally enter!

4. ‘Green’ is the New ‘Black’

Green color schemes are in this year, and will be perfect in any modern bathroom

Via Design Sponge

According to DesignSponge.com, green furniture is the big “In” thing this year. The color was very prominent at ICFF (the International Contemporary Furniture Fair) this year. Emerald tones seemed especially popular. What do you think? Is green “in” this year? Is green a color that you would feature somewhere in your home? How might we incorporate green in a bathroom? Be sure to click the link above to read the whole article, the images are really quite beautiful!

5. Matt Damon’s Toilet Strike Continues, Now With New Celebrity Supporters

Oh Bono, what a face

Via Rolling Stone

Remember back in February, when Matt Damon created a semi-satirical PSA about his promise not to use the bathroom until everyone in the world had access to clean water and proper bathroom facilities? If you need a quick refresher, read our article on it here. It seems that The Damon has assembled a few celebrity pals to help him with his cause, coming together like a meeting of the SuperFriends if not necessarily the Avengers. Bono, Lord Richard Branson, and Bono all lend their tongue-in-cheek wit to this new video promoting the cause and bringing awareness to this important issue in our world. In a country where we take running water for granted, it’s easy to forget that 780 million (that’s not a typo!) people in the world do not have consistent access to safe, accessible water and sanitation services in their communities. This is an important issue, and it’s wonderful (not to mention entertaining!) to watch these prominent public figures take up the mantle.

That’s it for now. Until next time, we hope you have a fantastic week, and remember… show your bathrooms a little TLC this weekend!

The Weekly Round Up is curated by . He likes home improvement projects, writing, and hopes one day to be a world-famous celebrity who doesn’t use the bathroom.
