When it comes to home decor, we all have a tendency to stick with the same old makeover projects - painting and wallpapering, changing furniture, perhaps a bathroom or kitchen makeover...but have you ever stopped to think about the parts of your home that you're overlooking which could perhaps benefit from a makeover?
Here's a breakdown of some of the most often overlooked every items in our homes, that could really benefit from some freshening up.
1) The Taps
If you can't stretch to a full kitchen remodel, just changing out your kitchen sink or even just the faucet can make a huge difference to the overall look and feel of the space for a relatively small cost.
The same goes for the bathroom - a full bathroom makeover can be extremely expensive, but changing smaller details such as cabinets, towel rails, mirrors and the taps can make a huge difference and really add a sense of luxury.
2) The Radiators
I've always had a tendency to feel kind of stuck with the radiators in any home I've lived in, occasionally choosing to cover them up with designated radiator covers when they're not to my taste but did you know that you can actually get your hands on some very sleek and attractive Electric Radiators which would not only change the whole look of a room, but also upgrade your heating system and minimise your energy usage too - ideal!
3) The Stairs
Most of us tend to overlook the stairs when we're thinking of ways to personalise our home environment, but with just a little TLC you really can turn this part of the house into an eye catching feature - I love these ideas below:
4) Nooks & Crannies
We'd all no doubt like more space to use in our homes, but how many of us can say that we're truly utilising all of the space available to us in the best possible way.
Take some time to really look at the wall space and little corners of your home, and see if they can be put to use - I love the idea of full-wall or under stair book storage or little corner reading nooks for children. If you get creative with your living space, the potential is limitless.
5) Light Fixtures
Probably the most cost effective but eye catching way to personalise your home and add your individual stamp of style is to change the light fittings to something a little different - I'm a big fan of Ikea's range of stunning but affordable unique light fixtures.
I hope you found this list interesting, feel free to share any of your own ideas below.
