United States to Be Hit by a Massive Tidal Wave From Canary Island Volcano?

Posted on the 12 January 2012 by Whatsgoingoninleeannesmind @Mommalynyrd
The laughs of my "2012" preparations have long echoed around me. The people I tell say that it's just because I am crazy. The more that I read into things the worse off my mindset goes into what I have to prepare for. And I have realized that "mass chaos" in 2012 isn't the only threat that I have facing me. I will put aside that mass majority of things I have seen and elaborate on one that was brought to my attention yesterday when I was discussing my "Grab and Go Survival Binder" that I Had seen  on "The Survival Mom" blog and prepared for my B.O.B. (Bug Out Bag)
My Dad came over for a visit and told me that the biggest of my worries should be this Volcano along the Western Coast of someplace towards Europe. He couldn't remember the name or where it was but informed me that this place had a large crack in a wide sized area of this volcano that only has a matter of time before it erupts and causes this large face of the mountain to fall off into the Ocean that will cause a Tsunami to hit the Eastern Sea Board of The United States.
Now, he didn't have many details such as names and locations so it trigger a Google Search. "Volcano Causing Tsunami in the United States" is what I looked up, and this is what I had found.

I will just give you a brief Summary of the article for those that are not interested in clicking the link. (yet)
"A massive slab of rock twice the volume of the Isle of Man would break away from the island of La Palma and smash into the Atlantic Ocean to cause a tsunami - a monster wave - bigger than any recorded, the scientists warned yesterday."
"Such a landslide from a future eruption could travel up to 60 kilometres (37 miles) from La Palma's coast, causing the formation and then collapse of a dome of water 900 metres (3,000ft) high and tens of kilometres wide. The bow of this collapsing dome of water would become a giant wave, but also, as the landslide continued to move underwater, a series of crests and troughs would soon generate the "wave train" of the tsunami."
These are two copied sections of the above mentioned link and has many more details in the link itself.
Now, I live in New Jersey, about 20 mins from the shore line and about 20 feet above sea level. Not to mention that a very good friend of mine lives at the end of a Lagoon right off the bay. (if you look at a map of New Jersey you will see a strip of land off the mainland, he lives inside of there). This threat is very real to me and very many people I care about.
Here's the real kicker in preparing for such an event that may or may not happen in our lifetime. According to the 2009 Census there is just about 9 Million people in the State of New Jersey who when we get the notice, which is estimated to be 8 hours, we will have all these people trying to take the 2 roads that lead West out of here. This scenario has the potential to be a VERY dangerous situation.  I have taken the steps to prepare an evacuation route for my family and I to get to a safe location much higher above sea level with an estimated travel time of 4 hours to reach our destination (and you should too!)
8 hours seems like it would be plenty of time to get out of here, but in all actuality its not a lot of time when everyone in the area is gathering supplies and filling up on gas.
So here's the point to my story.
We all take our security for granted, we plan on day to day life being the same and never plan for the unpredicted. So why not be prepared before the SHTF (Shit hits the Fan) I know I will be, it may not happen in our lifetime, but it could also happen tomorrow! The unknown is a scary thing, Mother Nature can be cruel. Be prepared in every way possible!
