Order yourself some new pictures or change the framesJust updating your photos into new frames can make all the difference to the look and feel of a room, we recently replaced all of our black frames with rose gold ones and I love the fresh look its given us.
You could also try adding a new photo collection wall, or updating your existing prints - I like to do this fairly often as the children get older, just to keep it up to date.
Update your soft furnishingsWe recently bought a neutral coloured sofa so that we can change the color scheme of our living room simply by changing the accent pieces such as blankets, cushions and ornaments. We started the year with blush pink accents to compliment our gray sofa and walls, then changed to a nice mustard tone in the summer....we're now thinking of changing it again for the winter season.
When it comes to your sofa, you may need to be a bit more creative. If it is a popular model, finding professionally made replacement covers online is not difficult. For less common or older models you may be better off simply replacing it or buying some throws to cover it.
Re-arrange your furnitureChanging the layout of your room is another way to change its look and feel. It is also worth removing items of furniture that you rarely use. Doing this really opens up the room and gives it a more modern, minimalist, feel. The above are just a few simple ideas, I hope they're of use. What are your top tips for updating your living room on a budget?
