…Uplift

The “Man of Steel” marketing team has taken the high road with one of its promotional campaigns. In fact you might say they’ve taken “The” high road.

Warner Bros Studios is taking aim at potential fans of a Christian persuasion, with its special pamphlet entitled “Jesus – the Original Superhero.”

The pamphlet is meant to encourage pastors to utilize the film in their sermons to “educate and uplift your congregation.”

The whole concept is mind-blowing, and begs the question—why didn’t we think of this before?

It may sound a little ridiculous, and the studio’s inspiration and motivation is coming from the wrong place, but just think about how much more entertaining Sunday services would be if Jesus could fly.

And why stop with just comparing Superman to Jesus. Martha and Jonathan Kent are obviously Mary and Joseph. Lois Lane is Mary Magdalene. Lex Luther is the slightly more evil Judas. There may be a few stretches, but this could work.

In fact, why not commit to the religion theme with the sequels’ title—”Man of God: the Gospel of Kal-El.”…starring Russell Crowe as God.
