Posted on the 10 February 2020 by Suzanne Robinson @mummy2twinsblog

Many gifts for Valentine's Day die or get eaten, yes it is sad that the beautiful flowers don't last and the yummy chocolates are short-lived.

Lake Macquarie is an oasis and super close to Sydney if you are driving. You don't have to drive to get to this amazing place, you can fly, take a train or arrive by boat. Yes so many amazing ways to start your exciting adventure at Lake Mac.

I thought with the fact that Valentine's day is indeed this week you would love a list of brilliant places to take your loved one.

Here's a list of Lake Mac's most romantic weekend getaways:

Luxury Lovers

How does a private bungalow right on the water sound for your weekend away? Just a 90-minute drive up the coast from Sydney you'll find the stunning Caves Coastal Bar and Bungalows. Its adults-only Beach Bungalows feature a king-size bed, a deep freestanding couples' bath and a private deck with hanging egg chair, where you can curl up with your special someone.

Take your Valentine somewhere super impressive by experiencing Lake Macquarie's newest modern contemporary Italian Restaurant, 8 at Trinity, located right on the waterfront and boasting mouth-watering mains. For a more intimate atmosphere, head to Warners Bay and visit where you can indulge in a sensational Mediterranean feast. Just looking at their menus is making me hungry!

Sunny Sweethearts

Looking to escape the world and enjoy a weekend away with just you and your lover? Stay at one of Lake Macquarie's holiday rentals - we recommend Serenity by the Lake for the ultimate couples' retreat. Wake up slowly to stunning views of Lake Macquarie from your bedroom window, then enjoy the complimentary country breakfast provided by the hosts that you can prepare at your leisure. This spot is perfect for watching the sunset over the Lake, whilst toasting marshmallows by the firepit or having a bottle of champagne.

During the day, slip over to one of Lake Mac's beautiful beaches to soak up some sunshine. At Redhead Beach, you'll find a local favourite, Cargo Espresso Bar, the perfect spot to grab a coffee and a bite to eat from the delicious summer menu. For dinner, don't look any further than Belmont 16s, where you can choose from one of six restaurants. Featuring everything from burgers to fresh seafood and succulent steaks to epic New York-style pizzas, this place has something for everyone!

Adventuring Amours

If your perfect getaway involves cuddling up beneath the stars before retreating to a cosy tent for two, then one of the Lake Mac Holiday Parks is perfect for you. Choose between four fabulous holiday parks, each with powered sites and villa accommodation.

For couples, we recommend Belmont Lakeside Holiday Park where you and your loved one can experience breathtaking views and an island-like atmosphere at this unique park that is almost completely encircled by Lake Macquarie. If you happen to be stuck in a love triangle with your furry friend, Belmont Lakeside offers pet-friendly camping and accommodation year-round.

Fall in love with the destination's scenic landscapes and explore some of the amazing outdoor adventures Lake Macquarie has to offer. At Glenrock State Conservation Area, you and your partner can enjoy your breathing space. Spanning over 500 hectares, this stunning location boasts scenic headlands, beaches, rainforests and the picturesque Glenrock Lagoon.

With stunning beaches, showstopper sunsets and a laid-back atmosphere, Lake Macquarie is perfect for a romantic escape or just because.
