My sister waited at a vegetarian Indian restaurant in a city in Texas,
which has the term “vegetarian restaurant” in the name, as well as in
the sign above the door. One of her tables one night was a rather
plump middle-aged couple.

Sister: Hi, can I get you started off with anything?

Husband: I don’t see any beef on this menu.

This might be a little different to the rest of Texas, but my sister
is already fighting the urge to slap this man. Vegetarian Indian food.
Vegetarian! Indian! Two reasons why beef is not on the menu.

Sister: Well, sir, this is an Indian restaurant. Because they find
cows sacred, Indian people don’t eat beef. Also, this is a vegetarian
restaurant. We don’t serve any meat here.

Husband: [already confused] Vege-what now?

Wife: Vegetarian, dear. They don’t eat meat.

Husband: Y’mean those are real?!
