Welcome to umadyet’s Week in review 03/30/2014

I think by now, everybody knows about Malaysian plane that went missing three weeks ago.  There has been 24/7 news coverage without any news!?  They think they MAY have an idea when it is.  They have found trash not related to this flight.  So, there has been no news on the most covered item for the past three weeks.  (Except the news about the coverage of the news.?)

So, here are some other stories you may have missed this week.  Let’s get to it!

Baseball Bleachers are sexist:

This one is from my hometown of Plymouth, Michigan.  The parents of the boys baseball team fundraised money for new bleachers.  The parents did the install of the new seats.  Sounds like they did a great thing for the school and the team!  No way Jose!  Somebody complained and the U.S Education Department’s Office for Civil Rights investigated this crime.  It turns out there is a girl’s team at Plymouth and they have older bleachers. (Keep in mind the school is 12 years old!)  So, the school took down the new bleachers and put them into storage.  WTH!?  So this is a case of the “if everybody can’t have it then nobody will.”  I understand there are rules and laws to protect “equal rights”.  This is just stupid. I would think this parent sponsored improvement to the school would be an inspiration to the girl’s team.  If they thought they needed to upgrade, there is no reason they could do the same.  I am sure the boy’s team would even show them how it was done.

Hundreds of fans upset after Bracket Buster:

After a close game University of Arizona lost to Wisconsin 63-64.  Arizona fans took to a street in a riot to show their displeasure in the turnout.  While I do believe in protesting for something you believe in, this is like rioting because of the rain.  It makes no sense at all.   The efforts will change nothing, Arizona lost and it does rain sometimes.  I understand this lack of judgment is probably from a few too many cereal malt beverages.  The problem I have is most of these kids would not gather in protest for anything that would make a difference. The scene looked like something you would see from another country’s riot over their government.  Michigan State just lost today.  I do hope their fans will not repeat this event. (East Lansing, keep an eye on your couches!)

Bank error in your favour, Go directly to jail:

A 18-year-old checks is account balance and found an extra $31,000.  Jackpot!  Now the right thing to do would be to contact the bank and make sure that it’s not a mistake.  Did he do that, of course not.  He goes on a shopping spree spending $25,000 (including a BMW.)  He now is charged with theft by taking, considered a felony.

Another view of this would be this it is the banks fault.  They made the mistake and I would imagine are insured for that.  With today’s technology how would they put the deposit into the wrong account. They did have the same name but that’s it.  To make a deposit of that sum and not check an address, ID or account number is negligence.  If this kid is guilty of theft the bank should be an accessory to the crime.

Other umadyet news:

11 teens added to bullying lawsuit  - One teen sues school because they did do enough to stop the bullies.  The teens and their parents have now been added to this lawsuit as defendants.  I think this is great, the parents and kids are now responsible for their own actions.  On the flip side, a lawsuit because you were bullied?  I remember middle and high school.  I don’t remember anything bad enough for someone to bring the legal system into it.  Are the bullies worse now or is everybody becoming hyper-sensitive?
14-year-old has great idea to save money: – This teen has found a way to save his school, your company and the Government money.  Change the printing font to Garamond his school could save up to $21,000 per year!  The Feds could save $136 million per year (of your money.)  States, and additional $234 million.  Now that’s a lot of ink!

umadyet news: Week in review, Recap:

  • If you want to do something nice for your school, check with a lawyer first.
  • Riots do not change the score, your team still lost!
  • Mystery deposit in your account?  Call the bank and do the right thing.  Even if it’s in your account, it does not make it yours.
  • Have a mean kid, better lawyer up!
  • Save for the lawyers you need for your mean kid on the baseball team by changing the font on your computer!
