"A human being always acts and feels and performs in accordance with what he imagines to be true about himself and his environment...For imagination sets the goal 'picture' which our automatic mechanism works on. We act, or fail to act, not because of 'will,' as is so commonly believed, but because of imagination."
― Maxwell Maltz, The New Psycho-Cybernetics: The Original Science of Self-Improvement and Success That Has Changed the Lives of 30 Million People
By now the word, visualize, may seem like a well-worn word that we hear nowadays tossed around in "woo-woo" circles or among New Age-y types. But the truth of the matter is that we all do it, anyway. We all visualize. It's pretty much an innate and automatic process. And we do it all the time. And mostly, we are unaware, or think of the fruits of that process as just a matter of the luck of the draw, or fate, or the way the cookie crumbles. Whatever. But, it's a routine part of living life as a spirit-being-human being. And you have some say in the whole out-picturing of your life and affairs.
So, my question is what are you visualizing for yourself, for your life?
I often wonder if my imagination is one of God's choicest gifts bestowed upon me to deliberately break me free from the frequent doldrums of my humanity."
― Craig D. Lounsbrough
When I was younger I had an epiphany that was that we were each of us starring in, writing, directing and producing our very own movie, called My Life. It was a single moment when I knew that that was true, and that I had more power within me than I had dreamed, or more power that I had been willing to yield to external edicts for how to live my life. But when I realized that I was a junior creator, having been endowed with the ability to create by the source from which I originated beyond time and space, it was an awesome moment for me. I knew I was not at the whim of some outside god, or some powers that be, or even, well-meaning family and friends. And it was an awe-inspiring realization that I was responsible for the world I was creating. I understood that I was responsible for the mental and emotional content of my being, which are the mechanisms by which we humans can create and produce the results of our life experiences. (How we do so is a subject for another time).
"Life. Life is a show. It's up to you how to make your own story, do your own show and how to live your show you are on. You choose who you need to meet, where you should have your scenes or which scenes you want to do. How awesome your mind can do right?"
― Diana Rose Morcilla
So, we are responsible for being intentional with our thoughts, emotions and actions. We are charged with more authority over our lives, and careless thoughts, emotions, and actions will create as easily as conscious, thoughtful, deliberate ones. It's a change of mindset and understanding which is needed here. We must have deliberate awareness of what is going on within us, and that's why practices like meditation and visualization are good and useful. They require your personal involvement, your willingness to carve out some of your time to get into the nitty-gritty of yourself. They lead you to understanding that you are part of the whole shebang, and a perception of just how profound that really is. And you begin to see that you need to grab the reins of your life and lead that baby in the direction you want it to go!
"Visualization: daydreaming with a purpose."

Today I'm suggesting you visualize all the goodness you want for your life. See all the grandness, all the goodness, all the wonder, all the freedom that you can conjure. Do it consciously, not haphazardly. Give yourself permission to reach for the unlimited and still the voices (internal and external) that might suggest you're in la-la land, or living in a fantasy. And then, do it again tomorrow. And after that, do it again. And the next day, as well. Build a practice of consistent conscious visualization to not only create what you want for your life, but to strengthen your understanding of your innate magnificence and beauty as a being.
If you want your life to look more like you think it should be, realize you have a hand in its creation. Visualize with intention. Visualize with awareness. Visualize with openness. Visualize deliberately, consistently, with certainty. Take more control of your life and cease to give your innate power to create the seemingly unimaginable to the naysayers. Cease to accept the dictates of others (who would begrudge you your dreams anyway).
Allow yourself to be the creator that you were born to be. Visualize for your life. Visualize your life.
Just do it with purpose, mindfulness, and appreciation.
