I have to admit, I'm not the worlds biggest exercise lover - the only time you'll catch me running is if something large and hungry is chasing me! - but one form of exercise I actually do really enjoy is swimming.
It's a bit strange as I'm not the worlds strongest swimmer, but for some reason I just find being in the water to be really relaxing - and although I make sure to do as many lengths as possible, it doesn't really feel like exercise to me. I find it very enjoyable (though I do despise public changing rooms - but thats a story for another time!)
While I was pregnant, I made sure I went swimming at least once a week - I did this right up until I was around 36 weeks along, at which point I was too uncomfortable to do anything anymore!
Now that Tyne is here, I am really keen to get back in the water in an effort to tone myself back up - and I am determined to take Tyne swimming with me!
I think its really important to make sure children are used to the water from a young age - I want to make sure that Tyne is a confident and able swimmer, and will be sending him to swimming lessons just as soon as he is old enough!
My nieces are 5 and 3 years old, and both of them absolutely love swimming - particularly the 5 year old, she is convinced that she is Ariel The Little Mermaid and makes her Grandad pretend to be Prince Eric everytime she goes to the swimming baths!!
I have found that my nieces confidence in the water has been really encouraged by the use of certain props - she uses arm bands and childrens goggles whenever she goes in the pool and they really help her to enjoy the experience.
I remember myself as a child going swimming that one thing that bothered me was the sting of getting water in my eyes!
Zoggs have a fantastic range of kids swimming goggles to help eliminate these problems and encourage your little ones to enjoy their time in the water, as well as stocking a great range of childrens & adults swimwear!
Do your kids enjoy swimming? What did you do to encourage them?As always, I'd love to hear from you!
