Wedding Ceremony Photography at Sherborne Abbey, Dorset

Posted on the 29 November 2017 by Belinda Mccarthy @b_mccarthyphoto

Oh, but this wedding ceremony at the wonderful Sherborne Abbey in Dorset combined so many of my favourite things! We have a favourite wedding venue, with a lovely couple... AND it was a naval wedding too, with a guard of honour. So, I felt absolutely privileged to be the one to carry out the wedding photography.

Wedding ceremony photography at Sherborne Abbey is always something that one has to rise to the challenge for, as it's such a truly epic venue that you have to make absolutely sure that you're doing justice to it! Although the Abbey is absolutely huge, that isn't always a plus... as you have to cover a lot of ground when moving around the abbey in order to move positions for the wedding shots, whilst still remaining very slow, careful and discreet. It's more important than ever before to anticipate what's going to happen during the wedding ceremony and make sure you're moving to the right position well ahead of time, to avoid missing the key once-in-a-lifetime shots which there are so many of during a wedding ceremony.

Having said all that, Sherborne Abbey is absolutely and without doubt one of my favourite venues ever to photograph a wedding ceremony, and I've been lucky enough to photograph quite a few beautiful ceremonies there over the last few years. As the abbey is situated right in the centre of the beautiful town of Sherborne, ceremonies here always draw a crowd of interested onlookers and tourists, who are always delighted to congratulate the couple as they leave for their wedding reception!

What a wonderful wedding ceremony this was, and there were so many touching moments for me to document for the families. Here is a selection of some of my favourite images from the wedding ceremony. I do hope you enjoy them.
