Wedding in Paris: The Wedding Reception & Celebrations

Posted on the 22 June 2016 by Belinda Mccarthy @b_mccarthyphoto

As the weather is still gloomy outside (one day of summer and that's all we seem to have been allowed!), I thought I'd look back at a wedding from a very hot and sunny July day last year, in the beautiful surroundings of Paris.

I've already blogged some elements of this two day Parisian wedding, but for me, this part is the best, as we move onto the wedding reception on Saturday and to the truly awe inspiring venue which is the Pavilion de Music de la Comtesse du Barry . Sited on a hill in Louveciennes, overlooking the city of Paris, this is one absolute showstopper of a wedding location - and that's even before you get inside, where it just gets better and better! I honestly can't think of a more beautiful location to hold a wedding celebration: and well worth travelling to Paris to do so! Dior have used this venue for high end fashion shoots, and it's easy to see why.

Even though this gorgeous wedding venue is so historical and traditionally elegant, the couple decided on a very informal way to use it for their wedding reception - and this approach worked beautifully. Canapes were served outside on arrival from stands, and later in the day, prior to the wedding breakfast, the speeches were held on the steps of the Pavilion whilst the guests gathered informally around, either standing or seated on the grass. It was such a lovely way to enjoy the speeches and made the most of the gorgeous grounds, too.

As you probably know, hard overhead sunshine is a very difficult form to work with when it comes to wedding photography, and this beautiful wedding venue offered little in terms of open shade - so we just had to roll with it! Even though the glorious weather threw up many challenges, it was well worth it for being able to see how the guests so enjoyed themselves in the wonderful weather.

There's very little I can say about the interior of the Pavilion apart from - wow. What a tremendous building! My only regret is that as the entire venue was given over to seating for the wedding breakfast, we had no opportunity to shoot couples portraits inside. But, that's a small concession... and I'm so pleased that the couple were able to make use of the interior so well. Take a look at this stunning gold themed decor - just beautiful!

Don't forget to check out other blogs from this lovely destination wedding in Paris - such as the bridal preparation blog and the wedding ceremony in Maisons Lafitte - but before you go, feast your eyes on this truly epic wedding reception, and some of my favourite images from this beautiful Parisian wedding day!
