Unless you’re new here, you know that I’ve never been “girly-girly” and couldn’t care less what is classified as “beauty” or fitting some socially (unattainable) ideal.
My usual beauty routine consists of not really having a beauty routine.
It started kind of early.
And while I don’t talk about my own struggles with my weight here much anymore, I was asked to at least weigh in on the topic—no pun intended, unless it makes me sound witty—and offer a slightly different perspective on the topic over In The Powder Room.
Why?
Because while “shaming” women for being a little overweight is looked upon as cruel, the flip side of the coin is rarely discussed.
I’ve been on both sides of the coin and can tell you that whether someone is 40 lbs heavier or 40 lbs lighter, many of the struggles are the same. And regardless of an external appearance, no one really wants to hear, “I wish I had your problem!” or be judged based on assumptions.
All of this is a long and rambling way to tell you to I’ll see you back here later this week with something a little bit lighter. But for now, pour yourself a drink and head on over to In The Powder Room and read my take on the topic.
