Welcome New Day, New Week, New Month: Thank You

What are your writing and creative goals for this month? Meditative writing helps to find the way - try it!

I can hear it but I can’t yet smell it: coffee brewing in the kitchen, more than a few paces from where I sit, laptop actually across my lap in the living room, staring out the window facing East. Sunrise is on her way as the coffee laced with cinnamon kisses the tip of my nose, whispering, “Almost ready, m’love!”

This has been something of a week to end all weeks. Mythical, mystical, not anywhere near magical, I have had a swollen lip, a keyed car and my eyebrows have been bunched together too close to my nose on more than one occasion.

I also had the profound delight of sharing in a memorial service for a beloved friend’s grandfather, a goodbye for now to my graduate school bound daughter and a darned good time rehearsing Shakespeare and some first-time-ever-spoken-on-stage one act plays.

I’m reminded life is not usually a straight line nor is it the expected formula of A squared plus B squared equals what it always equals. I can sit here facing East every morning and the sun will always come up over one of my neighbor’s homes and it will always be ninety-three-million miles away just like I learned in second grade. I, however, will never be exactly the same each time I look at it.

Something will have changed every single day.

I am grateful for that reality.

It may be bittersweet or giddy or incomprehensible or maybe even none of the above.

For all of it, I rejoice.

Welcome to September, 2014. Welcome another Monday. Welcome expansion and growth and boldness.

I’m glad we are here together.
