So you know how sometimes your week doesn't go, well...exactly as planned?
Yea. That's how my week was.
If you follow me on Twitter, you know that earlier this week I was having some issues with yawning a lot, but not because I was tired. I was just yawning. A lot. For no reason. I thought it was kind of weird, so I did some research, found out that excessive yawning is actually a legitimate condition that can be caused by a variety of different things. So I made an appointment with my doctor for next week and figured I'd worry about it then.
Well, Tuesday didn't exactly go as I planned. The morning started off fine but as the day progressed, my breathing issues increased. I wasn't yawning, but every two or three minutes I felt like I couldn't get a full breath. It became kind of a major issue and my coworker noticed and commented that I really didn't sound good. Oh, and then my chest started hurting. That's totally normal, right? Not being able to draw a full breath every 2-3 minutes and each time you actually do draw a full breath, your chest hurts? Oh? What's that you say? Not normal? Well, darn.
So, the long story short is that I ended up at the hospital on Tuesday afternoon.
They ran lots of tests, stuck a needle in my arm, asked lots of questions and over three hours later determined that the cause of my breathing issues was not life threatening (ie. I hadn't had a heart attack, didn't have a collapsed lung, a blood clot, etc.) but they weren't exactly sure what it was.
I left the hospital on Tuesday evening hyped up on narcotics with my first official doctor's note telling me to stay home from work for two days. And so I did. And it was actually quite nice.
Because of my unexpected two days off, I got to go to the cake tasting for my sister's wedding on Wednesday and I got to buy two super cute sundresses, a big floppy hat (for my sister's bridal shower...you can expect many pictures of that sometime next week), and get a manicure and pedicure done on Thursday.
The week has ended a bit anticlimactically as I came back into work on a Friday (ie. today) after not working for Wednesday and Thursday only to discover that my supervisor was leaving at 10, two of the other three people I support are out of the office, and the only person I support who's actually here has everything under control for a class that's going on.
Soo...what you're saying is there was absolutely no point in me getting out of bed at 5am on a Friday to come into work after I had the last two days off? Gotcha. ((facepalm))
I am, however, trying to look on the bright side of things. Like the fact that my sister's bridal shower is tomorrow which, though it has caused me stress at some moments, is sure to be lots and lots fun. Plus, who doesn't want an excuse to buy a big floppy hat and (maybe) talk in British accents all day?
The rest of the weekend will be filled with the Fairfax fair with Office Boy and other friends, which is sure to be a blast, and then grilling out with the whole family (minus my soon-to-be brother-in-law) and Office Boy on Sunday.
Also, it's beautiful outside. And Office Boy came over after work on Wednesday with these in hand:
Two pints (yes, two!) of my favorite ice cream, Ben & Jerry's New York Super Fudge Chunk, and a bouquet comprised of purple (my favorite color) flowers and lilies (my favorite flowers). Yes, he got major boyfriend points for that one. -.o
So all in all, things are pretty good -- even if I did have to go into work on Friday to do nothing. How was your week? Looking forward to anything fun on this lovely June weekend?
