Over the last few months, we've been making an effort to make some improvements to the decor in our home.
As long-term renters, we don't have the luxury of being able to make big changes to the house we live in but we do find that sprucing up a room with a fresh coat of paint and a new pair of curtains can make all the difference so after feeling a bit down with how our living room was looking we recently decided to give it a bit of a makeover.
I'm going to be sharing some photos of our Renters Living Room Makeover On A Budget soon, but until then I wanted to share a bit about an e-book I came across recently from Julian Charles all about what the colours you choose for your home say about your personality.
I was really torn when choosing the colours for our living room between opting for bright colours like yellows and pinks (I really love mustard and ochre at the moment) or going for something more subdued and calming - in the end I decided to go for neutrals, choosing various shades of gray as I find it quite a soothing tone and I wanted to create a bit of a calm space since our home can feel hectic a lot of the time!
This is what Julian Charles had to say about people who choose Grey in their homes...
"Grey is a reliable colour; you can’t go too wrong with it. It’s the same for you as a person. You’re reliable, but sometimes a bit scared of being the center of attention. You’d much rather fade into the background."
This is certainly true for me! It also states that people who choose gray for their homes are likely to be quite indecisive...again, certainly true!
When we chose grey, we did so with the intention of being able to choose an accent color for the accessories in the room and the one we've chosen for now is blush pink. According to Julian Charles, the color pink shows a warm, friendly and approachable person with a strong maternal side who can be reserved and shy.
I'm surprised by how apt the personality definitions for these color choices are for me in all honesty!
You can read about what the colour choices in your home mean here, and don't forget to keep an eye out for my living room makeover post soon!
We managed to make over the room for less than £100 in total, which I was really pleased with! I'll share more about it soon.
