What Doesn’t Kill You Makes You Stronger, #1067

A funny thing:

Several people have come up to me over the last couple days expressing that they think I’m so brave to have hosted a slumber party for my daughter for her birthday.  Now I will admit, a house packed full of giggling girls leads to a mighty fine headache, but really – – when I think of childhood, slumber parties are such a big deal.  My parents threw me one slumber party birthday when I was little, and it’s one of my biggest birthday memories.  I barely remember the other parties, but that one — solid in my brain for eternity.

For a 10-year-old’s birthday, the year they turn double digits, I wanted to create a memorable experience.  Granted, slumber parties are super hard on the parents, but I’m willing to sacrifice my own sanity for one evening for my child’s sake.

My advice to parents who are considering hosting a slumber party, “What Doesn’t Kill You Makes You Stronger.”  Thank you, Kelly Clarkson, for putting it into song.  If you’re questioning, the answer is “yes,” suck it up for your kid.  You’ll be doing something really special for them.
