Happy Top 10 Tuesday, my musical friends! I hope you are all having a great start to the week after a restful long weekend. Today, I have a fun indoor musical game for all ages. To start, you will need the following items:
(1) A variety of plastic Easter eggs. Hopefully you have some left over from Easter. If not, they are available for purchase online year round. Click HERE to check them out on Amazon.com.
(2) You will also need a variety of items to fill the eggs with in order to create different shaking sounds. Some suggestions might be:
UNCOOKED RICE
DRIED BEANS
RED HOTS CANDIES
PEBBLES
BEADS
BABY GOLDFISH CRACKERS
BUTTONS
Once you have gathered a variety of items, begin filling the eggs about half full. Seal the eggs shut with masking tape. So you don’t forget what’s inside each egg, make a list and write a corresponding number on the masking tape of each egg with a Sharpie marker. Now it’s time to begin the activity.
The Activity
Lay the the labeled eggs on a table for your child to check out. Explain to them that each egg contains a different item. Turn on some upbeat music to have them shake along to and ask them to guess what’s inside. The eggs should each sound and feel different from each other. Ask them to keep shaking until they have a guess for every one of the eggs.
When they have guessed what’s inside each egg, turn off the music and break them open! I can assure you that this will hold your child’s interest and not only did you make music together, but you also enjoyed a science project, too. All in a good day of musical fun!
