The email was pretty long, but I will cut most of it out and skip to the direct question.
"it feels like everything makes me have an attack. Do you have certain things that make you have attacks?"
Well, here is the part where I tell you all that if you thought I had the slightest bit of sanity, you will be doubting it after this I am sure.
The answer is: Yes.
There are many different situations, things and events that trigger my attacks. There are also attacks that happen for no apparent reason what-so-ever.
The things that I am aware cause my attacks are as followed (but not limited to)
~Driving
~Traffic
~Red lights
~Highways
~Elevators
~Small spaces
~High ceilings
~Humid days
~Rainy days
~Hot days
~The dark (outside)
~The passengers seat of a car (unless my husbands driving)
~Stores, unless they are small
~Standing in line
~Being alone
~Being in a crowd
~Social events
~Angled seating (like in a baseball stadium where you look down on an angle to the field)
~Deadlines
~Money (or should I say lack of)
~Germs, not dirty germs, sick germs. If that makes any sense.
~Taking medicine
~being overwhelmed
Simple things that most over look or put no thought into are some of the things that trigger my attacks.
Such as walking to the mailbox or taking the garbage out.
But, I will say that since starting my Lexapro so much has changed.
I used to have the "I can't" mentality about EVERYTHING. Now I actually feel as though I can. Or at least my mind tells me I can. Now I have plans to do things, things I want to do. Things that make me feel happy.
If you are reading this because you suffer with panic attacks I highly recommend getting medical assistance. At one point I felt that I would never do anything more than sit in my house, now I have visions of doing many things. I have created goals for myself. Something that I had never imagined me doing.
You may be scared to get help. I was too, now I couldn't be happier that I did.
Take control of your anxiety, don't let it control you.
