In the past couple of weeks I've seen a lot of posts on blogs, facebook, and Twitter being thrown back and forth between conservative Christian, liberal Christians, conservative non-Christians, and liberal non-Christians. I hid several people from my newsfeed because the posts about Chick-fil-A were getting out of hand and, for the most part, weren't intelligent or well thought.
In the end, I decided not to write some long post about why I support Chick-fil-A, my stance on gay marriage, on homosexuality in general, or anything like that.
I will likely do that (not so much on the CFA angle, but on the other stuff) someday soon, but I need a bit more time to process through and articulate my thoughts so that they are accurately represented and can be misconstrued as little as possible.
I'm not trying to change your stance on homosexuality or gay marriage or whether or not you support Chick-fil-A. But there are a few posts that I have found in recent days that point out the bigger issue that has come to light through all this CFA hubbub, and so I recommend them to you.
You obviously don't have to read them, but many of these posts articulate thoughts very similar to my own and they do them much better than I can at the moment.
- RELEVANT Magazine - "Being Holy in an Age of Being Right"
- The Cripplegate - "4 Thoughts on Chick-fil-A Day" (Total side note...The Cripplegate is a really legit blog that my pastor happens to contribute to; it's five pastors and they talk about all sorts of different things relating to the Christian faith; I definitely recommend it.)
- Gaysubtlety - This is not one specific post that I'm recommending, but the entire blog. It's written by two homosexual Christian men who are learning what it means to be homosexual and still live life according to the Gospel. They're hoping the blog will become a resource to open up further discussion and enlighten people further on the reality of being homosexual and Christian. You should read all of the posts (for real...they're so legit), but a couple that are particularly interesting and poignant for the current issue are this one, this one, this one, and this one.
However, if you have any thoughts regarding the articles I posted and would like to share them, I'd love to hear them. And as I said, we'll come back to this topic later...after I've had more time to think.
Have a wonderful Wednesday, everyone!
