I wanted to talk to you today about the ole blog and how it came to be, "Grin and Barrett". I guess you know some things about me from my about page, and just posts in general. I didn't really have a goal in mind with this blog, but I knew I wanted to be a part of the bigger community that is blogging. For years I blogged only for myself. A few friends would read my posts, but it was more like a diary. No buttons, no pages, no followers, just writing. There was something freeing about writing for next to no one, for next to no effort. Now, so much has changed, and my blog has gotten a little bit of a personality. Which I think is a big part of blogging- personality.
I can honestly say that I have not really "fit in" anywhere. I'm different. Not really on purpose, but I have just set myself apart from what is considered, "normal" or expected. I don't have crazy hair, or buy outlandish clothes. I don't even have any tattoos. To me, being different isn't always about your outward appearance. Neither is blogging. It's not always about appearances. I don't have a ton of outfit posts, or product reviews, or guest posts.No matter what, I am not going to go along with every blog post I see. Sometimes I have to call it when I see it. Sometimes I get inspired and sometimes even touched. Sometimes I am overly critical and sometimes I wonder, "Do these things really matter enough to write a post about it?"
Grin and Barrett is about seeing the positive in life and finding strength in the complicated web that is life. I find my strength in Christ and the love of others. I find strength in the honesty and humor of others. Grin and Barrett also documents our marriage journey and how we cope with the other. Its been a crazy ride so far, but anyone who's married knows that.
