When Baking Goes Wrong…

Posted on the 29 November 2012 by Redneckprincess @RdNeckPrincess

I know right? How can those words be in the same sentence? There isn’t ANYTHING wrong with baking on a normal day.

But it’s winter.

I am not working.

It’s cold and I am a pussy.

There I have said it.

I want to get outside and walk. Every day.

But I don’t.

I have a million excuses why I don’t. None of them are good, but no one seems to be challenging me on it. So I am getting away with it.

And I bake.

Every day. Bread, cookies, Banana Bread.

I am using the excuse that it is Christmas and it’s time to bake. Well these have absolutely nothing at all to do with Christmas…

When baking goes wrong…

Though in my defense, I have made Shortbread and Nanaimo Bars that are indeed in the freezer for Christmas.

And as for the exercise, going up and down the stairs to keep the fire going totally counts. My wrists are getting a killer work out with the crocheting, and usually once a week, we get firewood. I am the loader. So I am lifting and throwing heavy pieces of wood into the truck.

And I DON’T take cookies with us when we go to get wood. Well not every time.

In all the baking haze and mad crocheting, a wee bit of good has come out of it all. I had such an overload of scarves, as you all know from the past and future giveaways…that I decided it was time to do something good with them. So I took them to the Women’s Transition house.

When baking goes wrong…

It is the time of the year when they struggle for donations, and I hope that I can put a smile on someone’s face and maybe warm up their day just a little by helping out. I have links at the bottom of the page to the Transition house and Food Bank in Campbell River, anything you can do to help is a good thing.

And if you don’t live in CR, just go online, it’s easy to find where to donate to people in need in your home town, and it just feels good, no matter what you can do, it all makes a difference.

And everyone needs a nice warm scarf and fresh food…especially now, cause baby it’s cold outside.

And raining.

And some of us, don’t have nice warm houses to live in, with wood stoves…and baking and crocheting.

So next time I am taking baking too. It keeps me out of trouble, and I get to stay inside. I am lucky that way, because everyone knows that wet baking and crocheting is never a good thing.

Right?

P.S…the broken spatula in the first picture was just my latest casualty in utensils…no one was in any way injured in the breaking of the end…

Happy Winter friends…
