It’s Cold ‘Up North’, or so they say.
This is plainly a myth created by Northerners to dissuade Southerners from visiting. Since we have lived ‘Up North’, we have experienced surprisingly mild weather. We have had a couple of frosty mornings, and a bit of rain, but nothing like the terrible weather that they have been having ‘Down South’.
I remember in the past seeing news items showing Geordies out on the town in the middle of Winter wearing next to nothing. Now I know why that is. It is tropical ‘Up North’. I’ve heard that they’re now growing pineapples, avocados, and bananas in the North East of England, because the weather is so balmy.
Now, where did I put my Bermuda shorts?
