Where the eff has my motivation to blog gone? Certainly not to the garden, that’s still a bog, and not really to the weather… that’s either been way too hot or filled with way too much rain… So, what have I been up to?
I’ve been cooking, but nothing too exciting. I whipped up a rainbow chard and barley gratin based on The Garden of Eating’s recipe! It wasn’t picture perfect by any means so I didn’t bother snapping one. It was tasty and I really recommend the recipe. Other than that I baked up a double batch of granola cakes for the fam and started thinking about how I can capitalize on those tasty and healthy treats. (Home business idea???)
I went to the Meridian Township Farmers Market and East Lansing Art Fair with my mum and Grandma on Saturday. Local greens are coming out (yay rainbow chard!) and I picked up fresh fish and a whole chicken. The art fair was nice and the weather was beautiful. I got a super cool kitty pin from Etc. Designs by Renate Favour. It was an exciting purchase and I got to chat with my good friend Renate.
The rest of the weekend was full of cleaning out the new chicken coop (it was about 90 degrees in there!) and planting my new greens planter in the front yard courtesy of Farmbrook Designs. In between yard work and getting ready for our Sunday night family BBQ I sat down to watch Nola play in the puppy pool. Hard to believe the cat likes water that much!
There’s the catch up on recent activities! Next weekend will be a 4 + Day weekend for me YAY! Hopefully the garden will dry up so it can finally get planted.
