Looking for some new toys to pamper your little bunch of joy? Don’t know which toys are perfect for this age, and which are better to avoid purchasing? In this article, I gather some basic ideas and tips which toys are acceptable for all toddlers. Take it as an inspiration and get the perfect toy for sure!

* First of all, look for toys those meet all the CPSC standards and have a sign or icon that proves it. It is The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission that monitors and checks if toys are really suitable and not harmful for small kids. So - it is guaranteed safe toy.

*You should also take a better look of what material toys made. The perfect fabric should be labeled as flame resistant or flame retardant for the maximum safety of the baby.  *All stuffed toys should be washable. Kids and especially small kids love to get dirt on everything by accident and sometimes by not accident. And since you probably don’t want to give kids dirty toys, look for those that can be washed regularly.   * Painted toys should be covered with lead-free paint and it should be labeled as non-toxic as well. Small kids tend to taste everything, so these toys shouldn’t be harmful to toddlers as well.  *Crayons and paints should say ASTM D-4236 on the package. This means that they have been evaluated by the American Society for Testing and Materials. It meets all the requirements of toys that are safe for children.  *Make sure that if a toy makes sounds, these are not too loud for a kid. It can harm his hearing and create some unwanted hearing problems in the future.  *Of course, toys should be enough large to not fit into child’s mouth. This way you will reduce the risk of kid swallowing it and choking.  Also, always avoid marbles, coins, balls, and games with balls that are 1.75 inches in diameter or less. They can become lodged in the child’s throat above the windpipe and restrict breathing.  *If a toy has batteries, it should have battery cases that secure with screws. This way kids cannot pull them open. Batteries and battery fluid create a very serious risks. Including choking, internal bleeding, and chemical burns. To avoid that – always look for correctly secured battery cases on toys.   *Take a better look at the shape of a toy too. Sharp ends or small parts like eyes, wheels, or buttons that can be pulled loose or swollen. Small and sharp ends that can extend into the back of the mouth should not be on a toy too. Also, avoid every toy that have strings longer than 7 inches and parts that could become pinch points for small fingers.  *Giving kids toys that are old and used by many generations are cute and full of sentiments, but take notice that it might harm children too. Never give your toddler painted toys made before 1978. Some of these toys may have paint that contains lead and that really harms a baby. So that was a pretty long list of the most common requirements a toy should meet to be perfect and not harmful for a baby. Probably the best place to find these toys should be at specialized toys stores. Well, or big brand name department stores just like Kohl’s, for example!
