So how can sleep impact your beauty regime? Well, its called beauty sleep for a reason! Sleep really is so important, for your health, appearance and wellbeing. Today we will give you the low down on just how important sleep is and why you might want to try and squeeze a couple of more A’s into your routine.
Anti-Aging
Those sleepless nights of the baby (and toddler!) years have certainly aged me and a contributing factor to this is functioning on four hours sleep most nights. Skin makes new collagen when you sleep which helps to prevent sagging - it’s all to do with the repair process. Wexler (a dermatologist based in New York) says that only getting 5 hours sleep can lead to twice as many fiancé lines as sleeping 7 would. It can also leave our skin drier, which can make lines more visible too.
Get that glow
Whilst you sleep your body boosts blood flow which can help to add a healthy glow. Sleep deprivation can cause a decrease in blood flow which leaves you skin dull.
Bright eyes
Bags under your eyes? Dark Circles? All linked to sleep. Getting enough sleep, keeping hydrated and adding an extra pillow so your head is slightly more raised - all can help reduce those puffy eyes.
If you have trouble sleeping, keep your eyes peeled for my next post on how you can get a better nights sleep.
