It costs more, but it means there will be a professional finish, and it will likely take less time as well, which means less disruption.

Most people will be of the opinion that spring or autumn, and perhaps winter if it’s not too close to Christmas, will be best, so this is when the people you might want to hire will be booked up, possibly many months in advance. Renovations in your home are going to be disruptive. Even a new coat of paint means you can’t use that room for a few hours, and for more extensive changes, like putting in a new kitchen or bathroom, for example, or turning a loft into a bedroom with an ensuite, your entire life will be turned upside down. All the things you’re used to might be moved around, and that disruption can be hard to deal with. Plus, the mess of a renovation isn’t much fun to be around either.The good thing about choosing to have work done in the summer is that you can go out and leave the problems behind (assuming you’re hiring professionals, that is). Although running away from your problems is not the usual way to do things, in this case, it’s the perfect solution to help you stop getting so stressed. When the weather is good, you (and anyone else who lives with you, including children) can go outside for a walk or to the park. You can go for a drive or a bike ride. You can get out of the house and explore or head to a theme park or local farm. In other words, if you don’t have to be at home while renovations are being carried out, you don’t have to be, and in the summer there is a lot more to do.
If you are having the same work done in the winter, there will be fewer places to go, and you might not like the idea of having to go out in the cold anyway. This can lead to stress and problems that wouldn’t exist in the summer months.

When you have decided that home improvements have to take place, it won’t matter what your plans are; sometimes problems come up that cause delays. Although there may still be problems during the summer that delays things, such as sickness or supply issues, there will be far fewer of these problems to contend with.Compare the issues that winter would bring, for example. If the weather is bad, that could mean delays if you’re having any roofing or exterior work done. It might even mean delays even if you’re only having interior work done because the contractors may need to be outside to do some of their work. If they can’t work due to snow or rain, you’ll have to wait until the weather clears up. Another delay could be down to the ground; if it is hard as it will be in the winter, any digging that needs to be done will take longer, if it can be done at all.
It’s also easier to check that things are going well in the summer, speeding things up if need be. Some people like the winter because it gets dark earlier, and you can be snug and cosy inside. That does sound nice, and it isn’t a bad thing. However, if you are having work done in your home, it’s not so helpful. For one thing, the contractors will have to stop working potentially many hours earlier than they would in the summer when the nights stay lighter for longer. Secondly, if you want to relax in a snug and cosy way and you have workers around you or your home is unfinished, it’s going to be hard to do so.One of these reasons alone would be enough to show that summer is a better time for home improvements, but when added together, it’s proof positive that you need to plan for the summer months when it comes to home improvements.
