1. Because you don’t know how to
Admit it chica, you don’t know how to cook. And if you do, I applaud you for not beinga lazy bum like me.
And also, I have this weird rebellious streak in me that refuses to conform to the idea of “All women must know how to cook.” I find this weird pleasure in telling people that I don’t know how to (thereby not fitting into that stereotype).

For a non-cooking person like me, I feel like it would take me tons of courage to even pick up that knife. What if I slice my finger off like it was fish? Or what if that pot of hot soup falls to the ground while I’m stirring and burns my toes? Or what if peeling onions causes me to cry so much that I have to see a doctor afterwards? Like hello, these are entirely plausible situations. So if he steps into the kitchen and can whip up a dish, he has braved all these things and is now a hero, worthy of your affection.

Well, one of the perks of dating a guy who can cook is being able to OM-NOM-NOM on whatever he cooks for you, duh. Imagine all the excuses you can use to get him to cook for you. Anniversaries, monthsaries, birthdays, dog’s birthday (but you eat the food), Valentine’s Day, you got your period and can’t go out to buy food…the list goes on.

Maybe he’ll actually drag you to the kitchen under the pretense of having you WATCH him cook, and before you know it you’re helping him to peel prawns and then you’re stirring the risotto and TADAA you somehow feel like cooking isn’t so bad anymore. You start to think of simple recipes that you might just want to try by yourself at home.
