This past weekend I was one lucky girl. Not only were my cousin and her husband (remember the New Orleans posts from when I was there for the wedding?) visiting Rockport, but we got to take a little spin on the sailboat of my dreams, The Heron. I've blogged about this stunning ship, based out of Rockport, Maine, and Maho Bay, St. John, many times: in 2009 (throwback city), in 2009 again, and last fall. Why last fall? Because as if The Heron weren't a bad-enough-ass boat as it is, it played Aaron Eckhart's yacht in The Rum Diaries. It's a movie star (more after the jump)!
Since I've written so much about the boat before (and even served as crew for a few summers), I thought I'd go photo heavy on this post. Here's the yacht in all her glory; we went on a sunset sail from Rockport to Mark Island and back. Fog started to roll in as we tacked back to the harbor, and the haze made for stunning yellows and oranges swathed across the sky. Indian Island's silhouette turned black against the dimming light.
And as I sat there on the teak deck, salt spray in my hair and the setting sun on my face, I thought of the toast that a friend of mine always gives. You hold up your glass, clink it with your loved ones, and say, "how lucky we are."
What more is there to say?
